Health centre

Health centre

The Reims Health centre is an umbrella for units associated with the CNRS, at INSERM as well as teams at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, associated with the Institut Fédératif de Recherche 53 (“Cell-microenvironment interactions: cancer, inflammation, infection, repair, ageing”).

our missions

Crédit photo communauté européenne The strategic Health Centre project is specifically based on consolidation of the Chemistry/Biology/Imagery interface and the reinforcement of interaction with clinical teams at the University Hospital Centre and the Jean Godinot Institute.

It has accentuated the policy of the institute leading to “Research Centre” structuring and reinforced inter-regional and European integration of the Centre. This interdisciplinary project combines the skills of biologists, chemists, biophysicists and clinicians.

Our research themes

“The research performed at IFR is structured around three axes:

  • Study of the relationship between cancerous cells and their immediate environment in tumoral invasion, in partnership with the French Canceropôle Grand Est.
  • Study of the relationship between the cells and their immediate environment in inflammatory and infectious pathologies and tissue repair.
  • Development of new techniques in tissue and living cells imaging. This axis comes in support of two others”.

One of the strengths of the Institut Fédératif de Recherche 53 is the existence of several technical platforms and specialisations:

  • Imagery platform recognized at the national level and "Image centre" enabling use and development adapted to in vitro and in vivo experiments.
  • Nanomaterials platform enabling perfection of fluorescent nanocrystals with multidisciplinary applications.
  • Proteomics platform that complete the range of technological skills.

Report

M. MAQUART, Director of the Institut Fédératif de Recherche 53, Professor at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne (Marne, France) _“The research performed in the laboratories forming IFR is based on public health problems relevant to us all and are inter-linked, such as cancer and ageing. Overall, the French population is ageing and particularly so in Champagne-Ardenne. Our research also covers tissue repair, which involves direct links with cosmetics manufacturers and pharmaceuticals. In the region, there are specific links with ARD-SOLIANCE and the “Industry and Agro-resources” competitive cluster to develop cosmetics from agro-resources, but also new drugs.

We can also highlight many examples of international collaboration, whether on European programmes or simply inter-team relations. Take for example direct links with the BIOWIN competitive cluster in Wallonia, Belgium, or with Germany for the virus and cancer programme”.
